Mr. Blackwell graduated from the Stetson University College of Law in 1994, cum laude, where, among other honors, he was a Charles A. Dana Scholar. While in law school, Mr. Blackwell was a member and Associate Editor of the Stetson Law Review, a Teaching Fellow, and was selected to study abroad in Spain in 1993.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Blackwell attended Washington & Lee University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in literature in 1991. While an undergraduate, Mr. Blackwell was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and a participant in a study abroad program in Spain in 1989.
Mr. Blackwell is a member of the Florida Bar and is also a member of the St. Petersburg Bar Association.
In his free time, Mr. Blackwell enjoys tennis, running, and spending time with his three daughters. Mr. Blackwell is also an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Since graduating from law school, Mr. Blackwell has devoted his practice almost exclusively to civil litigation matters. Over the past 25 years, Mr. Blackwell has represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in both first and third-party insurance claims including PIP claims, bodily injury liability claims, uninsured-underinsured motorist claims, premises liability claims, and commercial claims with large, statewide firms and small, boutique and specialty firms. Mr. Blackwell has also served as captive, outside house counsel for one of Florida’s largest writers of private passenger automobile insurance. Additionally, Mr. Blackwell has practiced as in-house corporate counsel for various corporations, had numerous family law trials, appeared extensively in traffic court, and handled Plaintiff’s commercial litigation matters.
